CLASS INFORMATION
Holistic Yoga offers a comprehensive system of yoga based on time-honoured esoteric techniques. The structure is introduced gradually and the teaching is based on both practical and theoretical aspects. The yoga system is taught by addressing your rational mind by providing clear scientific explanations of the mechanisms behind yoga.
Holistic Yoga offers each participant the experience of practising traditional hatha yoga. Our style is compatible with the ancient yogis of the Himalayas and is described in the major texts on yoga such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Stemming from such a powerful and evolved tradition the benefits of the practise speak for themselves.
Importantly, participants require no previous knowledge or experience in yoga.
Accompanying each technique is direct practical guidance and detailed theoretical background. In this way each practitioner is empowered through a comprehensive knowledge of how yoga works.
The classes themselves commence with a series of warming exercises. This is followed by the contents of the class, which includes asanas (postures), bandhas (locks), mudras (gestures) and meditations. These are the various classes of techniques used in the yoga practice. We conclude with a deep relaxation.
Many branches of yoga are incorporated in the yoga system. Disciplines from Hatha-yoga, Kriya yoga, Kundalini yoga, Raja yoga, Karma-yoga, Jnana-yoga, Tantra-yoga, Nidra-yoga, Bhakti-yoga and Laya-yoga are all integrated. Do not be concerned if all of these Sanskrit words do not make sense today.
Holistic Yoga aims to demystify and convey the timeless tradition of yoga while preserving the essence of this rich and diverse system of evolution.
